Product description
This helmet is named after the region around Bobruysk in White Russia, where in 2019 during excavations a remarkably well-preserved helmet was uncovered. The find is dated to the late 10th or early 11th century and is a fine example of an early medieval helmet from Eastern Europe, with a characteristic pointed shape that reveals influences from the early Rus, the steppe peoples and Scandinavian culture.
While the original was made of iron with bronze decorations, this reproduction has been carefully hand-crafted from brass sheet metal, with steel fittings and copper-colored reinforcement bands. Characteristic are the numerous rivets and the decorative metal ornaments on the front and sides, which together with the pointed top form the recognizable silhouette. Inside, an adjustable leather insert ensures a good fit, secured with a sturdy leather chin strap with brass buckle.
This helmet is suitable for re-enactment and living history, ideally for depicting the early Rus and the early medieval Eastern Europe, and forms a fine addition to any helmet collection.
