Product description
William I, better known as William the Conqueror, was the first Norman king of England and commissioned the famous Domesday Boken. This coins shows his bust on one side and an ornate cross on the reverse.
The packaging tells the story of 1066: how Harold II, after his victory at Stamford Bridge, marched south and faced the Normans on 14 October at Hastings. Through a feigned retreat, the English army disintegrated and Harold fell; at Christmas 1066 William was crowned in Westminster Abbey. This replica is cast directly from an original and made in lead-free tin.
A fascinating coins for collectors and enthusiasts of this turning point in English history.
