Wooden swords are an excellent alternative to steel swords for training. They are cheaper than steel swords. Alternating training with a wooden weapon a few times a month will allow your expensive sword to last considerably longer. Wooden weapons are also well-suited to children. They are particularly well-suited to reenactment groups and sword fighting schools for teaching people how to sword fight, especially as beginners still handle the sword incorrectly and can unintentionally cause damage to the blade. This wooden gladius has been based on original Roman swords from antiquity, used by Roman legionaries or foot soldiers. The gladius is crafted from contrasting light and dark hardwood. Constructed from steamed beech wood, this gladius is a fine addition to any collection or training programme.
