The hangeroc was a type of dress worn by Vikings and other early medieval European cultures over a slip dress. Viking women wore a hangeroc and slip dress in contrasting colours. Wealthy Viking women favoured colours such as red with blue or purple — colours that were expensive to produce and could therefore only be worn by the higher classes of society. Lower-class Vikings wore colours such as brown with yellow, cream with green, and similar colours that were less costly to produce. This replica hangeroc is crafted from a wool mix and is pleasantly warm for the winter months. The hangeroc is open at the sides and may be fastened by tying the laces provided.
