Product description
The aspis, also known as the hoplon, is the large round shield that gave the Greek hoplite his name. In the close phalanx formation, each warrior protected not only himself but also his neighbor with his shield — the shield was thus the heart of the Greek way of waging war.
This shield is made entirely of steel with a brass-colored rim and decoration and a finely worked shield boss in the center. The front and back are covered with brown suede. On the inside is a sturdy steel arm grip with straps, so you can carry the shield stably on your forearm.
A great choice for re-enactment, living history, educational presentations and collectors.
