The LARP shield is based on the historical wooden round shields employed by early medieval peoples such as the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. Painted with remarkable realism so that it resembles the genuine article, it is nonetheless considerably lighter in weight than a wooden shield. The surface appears to be crafted from horizontal wooden planks, of which half is painted red, whilst the shield boss appears to be constructed from steel. The shield has been painted with close attention to detail, lending it a worn and well-used appearance that befits the shield of a warrior. The back features a handle wrapped in brown suede, permitting a comfortable and secure grip.
