The historical weaving method, also known as herringbone motif, has been employed for centuries, even in the present era. During the early Middle Ages it was utilised by various peoples all over Europe, such as the Merovingians, Vikings and Germanic peoples. Textile fragments of herringbone motif fabric have been excavated in various Viking towns, such as Jorvik, Hedeby, Birka and Oseberg. These trousers are constructed entirely from a herringbone pattern fabric and therefore possess a highly historically accurate appearance. A genuine asset for early medieval re-enactors.

Viking trousers such as these were worn from around the seventh to the eleventh centuries. This model has short legs. Leg wrappings may be worn below the knees, as shown in the photograph. By employing a contrasting colour of leg wrappings, one may adjust the trousers to one's own preference. For a particularly fine effect, the trousers combine beautifully with other herringbone motif garments from our range.
