This axehead is made after several originals found in Scandinavia, on the British Isles, France, Ireland and The Netherlands. This type of axehead originated around the 2nd half of the 8th or the 1st half of the 9th century from the original bearded axe. Contrary to its predecessor this axehead has a wider blade and the ring is extra reinforced.
This axehead is handmade of iron. It has a blunt edge and because of this it can be used in re-enactment battles.
The length of the axehead is 15,5 cm, it has a blade of 11 cm and an eye that measures 25 x 33 mm. It weighs 650 grams.
