I bought this because I wanted a longer historical (specifically 12th/13th century) gambeson that I could use for HEMA. I bought it a size too large (XL instead of L), because otherwise the sleeves would be far too short for me. That was a good idea, since the extra room around my torso actually gives the arms a lot of extra movement. However the sleeves are still a little short, so I'll be extending them myself. I dyed my gambeson a deep red, which took three tries before I actually managed to make it hold onto the dye, but now it looks exactly like I wanted.
Overall I am very happy with this gambeson: it's sturdy and quite protective, but not too thick or cumbersome and I don't overheat in it very easily, even if I have several fights in a row. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the two buttons on the collar started coming loose not long after I got it. It was a quick and easy fix, so I would give 4.5 stars if that was an option.
In any case, whether you want a cheap gambeson for reenactment or HEMA, this is a very good choice.
Marshal's Historical Gambeson; based on one from the Maciejowski Bible, is a very comfortable and durable Gambeson.
For the price your getting a great early medieval Gambeson.
