Product description

The German Landsknechten were mercenary soldiers who took over the role of the Swiss Landsknechten around the end of the fifteenth century. Most of them were pikemen. In the sixteenth century they played an important role in European warfare. The German Landsknechten mainly carried a peak as a weapon and a Katzbalger (short sword), with a dagger as a secondary weapon. This dagger is based on late medieval originals. It has a beautiful wooden grip with a spiral pattern, this pattern continues into the steel pommel. It has a full tang. The guard has three quillions with ball-shaped ends, these are also in the form of a spiral. This makes the dagger visually a beautiful whole. The dagger is delivered including a very luxurious scabbard made of high quality leather. The dagger has a belt loop to hang it on your belt, and a leather lace so that you can tie the dagger to the scabbard. This way it will stay secure even during the heat of battle. The scabbard is beautifully decorated with leather lace cross-stitches. The scabbard has an authentic and handmade look.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
