Product description

This kite shield is based on an illustration of a shield shown on the Bayeux tapestry. This tapestry illustrates the conquest of England by the Normans and the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The shield has dark blue edges and a dark blue griffin in the middle. The rest of the shield has a light blue color. The center has a shield boss. The shield boss is delivered unmounted including six nails and is easy to attach to the shield. You can also choose to give the shield boss an unpolished historical finish (see description below) and use historical nails for an extra authentic effect. The back of the shield has three leather straps that can be adjusted in size. This allows you to wear the shield both over the arm or over the shoulder. The shield also has padding so that the impact of strikes on the shield is mitigated. The shield weighs 2.85 and is suitable for reenactment.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
